I have been to Amsterdam multiple times and am always in aw at how charming it is; it really is a must visit city if you are planning a trip to Europe. Amsterdam has endless activities to do, not to mention you could spend hours just wandering the cozy streets and exploring the canals. If you are looking to plan ahead of time these are some of the experiences in Amsterdam you can’t miss!

1. Flagship Wine & Cheese Canal Cruise

Price: €35–€50 per person
I couldn’t find the exact cruise we did, but the company Flagship has endless canal cruise options with drinks and snacks! Sip on wine and beer and and enjoy local bites while exploring Amsterdam’s iconic canals by water Flagship has private and group options if you want to rend a whole boat or join a larger group on the tour. I think this is a must do if you are visiting Amsterdam!
Pro tip: Book a week or two in advance to get the time slot you want and they have covered boats if it’s rainy.

2. House Music Museum

Price: €19–€25 per person
The museum Our House is an interactive deep dive into the history and creation house music, which appears in a lot of dutch culture. I lived this because it was so hands on! You can mix your own track, explore vintage gear, and listen to endless different house sets.
Pro tip: You can group your tickets with other experiences such as the Heineken Experience and Ice Bar for a discount!

3. Rijksmuseum

Price: €25 per person (Under 18 Free!)
Home to masterpieces like Rembrandt's Night Watch, this museum is a must. The building and gardens are stunning too. They also have an incredible library that is a must see if you are in the area. This is a great activity for the rain and is centrally located to other must see landmarks.
Pro tip: Buy tickets online and stop by the café.

4. Noordermarkt

Price: Free to enter (shopping/food prices vary)
Local farmers, vintage goods, and fresh tulips. This market is massive and located in the charming Jordaan district which includes great food and coffee shops as well. It is open Mondays and Saturdays but I would check ahead of time to make sure it is happening. Grab a stroopwafel and check out all the great antique and hand made items this market has to offer.
Pro tip: Get there early for the best selection of goodies, the market opens at 9 am.

5. Tony’s Chocolonely Flagship Store

Price: Free to enter €3.50–€5 per bar
This is a fun chocolate shop to stop in during your stroll through the center of the city. They have unique flavors, cute packaging, and a huge selection of different chocolate treats. This is perfect if you want to get a gift to bring back for friends and family.
Pro tip: Look out for limited-edition seasonal bars.

6. Bloemenmarkt Flower Stands

Price: Free to browse (flowers vary)
This is a gorgeous are to to stroll through the colorful flowers and floating stalls. Amsterdam is known for their tulips, so if you are going in the spring season pick up some gorgeous tulips or bulbs! There are also other stands all around the city to check out while you stroll through the streets.
Pro tip: Check customs rules before buying bulbs.


The best way to explore Amsterdam is to walk through the charming street and neighborhoods such as the Jordaan or De 9 Straatjes areas. Everywhere is full of cute cafés, boutique shops, and perfect photo spots; trust me you will never get bored.
